What an incredible place it must be waiting at the start line of an Olympic final knowing you are in the right place mentally and physically and all you have to do is give everything you have for that one moment in time. There are no more plans, schedules, diets or travel. There is no more advice from coaches, no more worries about peaking too soon or temptations to tempt you from your course. You are there in your own thoughts, concentrating on your breathing and visualising the race ahead. The anxiety and nerves are tearing at you inside but you know that nerves are good and it is just how you need it to be. Everything in your body is ready to go. Thousands of hours of practice has conditioned every cell in your body for the explosion that is about to occur. Waiting …. Waiting…
You don’t have to be an elite athlete to feel the same sensations. I have felt similar feelings coaching at finals time when everything is just right and you know your team is determined enough put the extra effort in to be the wining team on that one particular day.
Have you ever been in such a place either farming, work, life or sport? would love to hear some stories.
Best Wishes
